If you ever think breakfast time is boring then think again. TV’s most insane scientist (Brainiac, Sky One and Blue Peter’s resident ‘Mad Scientist’) is bringing his lab full of madcap experiments which prove even a bowl of cornflakes can have some impressive fireworks lurking in their depths to the West End. Doctor Bunhead’s Recipes For Disaster is a hilarious show where just about everything in his kitchen explodes and was a hit at this year’s Assembly Rooms during the Edinburgh Fringe. It’s enough to send Nigella and Delia into early retirement.
The maverick scientist, Doctor Bunhead, has a unique talent for making science come alive. With the help of everyday objects such as a camping stove, mixing bowls, and lots of jokes he turns science into a pyrotechnic extravaganza. Throughout the show volunteer scientists are invited to help him detonate a laboratory full of every day food with the maximum of bangs, booms, flashes and flares.
Doctor Bunhead, AKA Tom Pringle, is actually a very brainy guy. He even has the bits of paper to prove it. He left Bath University in 1989 with a degree in chemistry and a P.G.C.E. in secondary science teaching. In 1992 he gained an M.Sc. in 'Surface Science and Catalysis' from Liverpool University. He then went to Edinburgh University to conduct environmental and industrial research for several years, gaining an M.Phil. in Chemical Engineering. In November 1996 he set up 'Dr. Bunhead's Science Education' providing educational shows, workshops and training for a variety of audiences. He has since performed over 1200 shows at 500 venues worldwide bringing science out of labs and into classrooms, theatres and television. Tom Pringle has written and presented material for BBC, ITV, Discovery, Brainiac on Sky 1, Disney and New Zealand TV among others.
